FAQs

What does a neurosurgeon specialize in?

  • Neurosurgeons specialize in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of conditions affecting the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves. They handle a range of conditions from brain tumors to spinal injuries.

How do I find a skilled neurosurgeon in Mumbai?

  • Research hospitals and clinics in Mumbai known for their neurosurgery departments. Look for information about the neurosurgeons on their websites, including their qualifications, areas of expertise, and patient reviews. You can also seek referrals from other doctors or healthcare professionals.

What qualifications should I look for in a neurosurgeon?

  • Look for a neurosurgeon who is board-certified and has completed a recognized neurosurgery residency program. Additional fellowship training in a specific neurosurgical subspecialty, such as spine surgery or pediatric neurosurgery, can also be a valuable credential.

What should I expect during my first consultation with a neurosurgeon?

  • During the initial consultation, the neurosurgeon will review your medical history, perform a physical examination, and potentially order diagnostic tests like MRI or CT scans. They will discuss your symptoms, diagnosis, and potential treatment options, including whether surgery is necessary.

What factors should I consider when choosing a neurosurgeon in Mumbai?

  • Consider the neurosurgeon's experience, specialization, patient outcomes, and reputation. Look for a surgeon who communicates well, answers your questions, and makes you feel comfortable. Accessibility to the hospital or clinic and the availability of advanced surgical technologies are also important factors to consider.

My left hand is numb and sometimes have a tingling feeling, before it was from finger tips to wrists but it extended till elbows. I consulted a doc and he said that there is no sign of nerve injury as there is sweat in my hand. He said that if there is a nerve problem my hand will not sweat. He also said that it maybe because i may have it some bone or nerve unknowingly, and did not prescribe any medication. However the numbness is still there for nearly 2 days and it has extended till my shoulder joint. I have no feeling in my left hand. No pain no sense no feeling.

Male | 17

You’re having a health issue in your left hand, as notice of the deadness is still staying up to your shoulder. This might result from a compressed nerve or issues in your neck or shoulder. It is essential to make a doctor’s condition, request these tests, and do imaging tests such as MRI. Do not put off these symptoms.

Its been 5 months, post stroke treatment, urinary incontinence, not feeling of hunger

Male | 59

After someone has had a stroke, they may not be able to control their bladder and bowel movements. This can result in them wetting or soiling themselves accidentally. One of the reasons for this is that the brain may not be sending the right signals for feeling hungry either. The problem could also be due to damage from the stroke affecting this part of the brain. It would therefore help if you talked with your doctor about it. They could think of ways to help you such as through exercises or drugs.
