Why is my excessive hair loss and delayed periods?

Patient's Query

I am 18 years old . I am having excessive hair loss for past 2 months . I was stressful due to exams in the 2 months and my periods have also been delayed. I am not under any medications . I have dandruff for more than 2 years by now

Answered by Dr. Ishmeet Kaur

It sounds like you have been experiencing a lot of stress recently due to your exams, and this can sometimes lead to hair loss and delayed periods. Dandruff can also contribute to hair loss. It's important to manage your stress levels, eat a balanced diet, and use a gentle anti-dandruff shampoo. If the hair loss continues, it's a good idea to talk to a dermatologist for further advice.

I am using DEMELAN for my underarms which has become black due to use of Deodorants and Fungal infections for near about 1 month. But i cannot see any changes. What to do now?

Male | 29

It might be that your underarms have become darker due to some other reason. So, it is best to consult an experienced dermatologist. The dermatologist may examine your condition to know the exact cause of it and determine a suitable treatment accordingly.

Allergic reactions to antibiotics are a common issue, resulting in itching or welts on the body. It is essential to stop using the antibiotic at once and see a doctor. An allergist or an immunologist is going to be able to diagnose and manage the allergy.

I am using skinshine cream for last 4 years. I dont have any side effects till now. But when i came to know the side effects of using this i decided to stop using this. So how i can safely stop this without more sideeffects

Female | 27

I get why you're worried about stopping Skinshine cream after 4 years. Being careful about side effects makes sense. When you quit, your skin might get red, itchy, or dry. That happens because it got used to the cream. To avoid more problems, try using it less over time. First, use it every other day. Then every two days. Keep doing that until you stop. Going slowly like this can let your skin adjust without too much trouble. Also, moisturize lots during this change to keep your skin healthy.

Hi. I've a question regarding my niece's skin problem. She is a 7-years old. She has developed red patches of skin on her cheek, chin and around nose. The affected area of her cheek is very dry. I brought her to a doctor who prescribed two creams, mezoderm(betamethasone) and gentamicin-akos which made things far worse. Then at the pharmacy I was advised to use ftorokart(also a cream with triamcinolone) for my niece's face. After a few uses of the cream, I've seen some noticeable improvement in her skin condition since she started to use it. It took the redness out of her nose. But she still has rash and blisters on her face. I took photos of her face in case it might be helpful for you to identify the reason for her skin condition. Here are the photos of hers: https://ibb.co/q9t8bSL https://ibb.co/Q8rqcr1 https://ibb.co/JppswZw https://ibb.co/Hd9LPkZ Would you mind helping us to identify what caused this skin condition?

Mera beta 6 months k h...usse bht mosquitoes cutne k baad redness Kam hone k baad skin p black black mark ho jata h .....sir black spot kaise normal hoga????

Male | 6 month

Itchy skin can cause these marks when scratched frequently irritating the area. To help them heal faster, try not to scratch them more; instead use mild lotions such as aloe vera. Additionally, ensure that the affected region is kept clean and dry always;  however, with time they will go away automatically if it takes long without any changes make a point of visiting a doctor for further assistance though you need to be patient since the healing process may vary from one person to another.

I am 18 years old female and I am suffering from cystic acne since past few years. I tried everything possible.. went to dermatologist but nothing worked.... What should I do now ?

Female | 18

Cystic acne at the age 0f 18 years indicates underlying hormonal cause like PCOS, insulin resistance etc. this can be evaluated by certain blood tests and scans. Please consult an experienced dermatologist for the same. Intra lesional triamcinolone injections, oral retinoids, oral contraceptive pills,  etc may be recommended once the cause is established by the Dermatologist. Proper dosing and adequate medication course is needed for satisfactory results in severe acne forms like cystic acne.
